The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Sunday officially announced the 15-member Indian cricket team for the upcoming ODI series against England. Many major changes have been seen in this team selection, which have become a topic of discussion for cricket fans. Young star Shubman Gill has been given the command of the team. At the same time, the much-awaited return of veteran batsman Virat Kohli and yorker king Jasprit Bumrah has been made in the team. However, the most surprising decision has been to keep young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal out of the team. Virat Kohli returns, but will have to pass the fitness test. Virat Kohli, who returned to the ODI team after a long time, playing against England will completely depend on his ‘fitness clearance’. Actually, Kohli suffered a hamstring injury during the final match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, due to which he was ruled out of the ODI series against Afghanistan. BCCI has clarified in a media release that the star batsman is currently recovering from injury. Before taking the field, he will have to prove himself completely fit by going through the examination process by the BCCI medical team and ‘Team of Engineers’. Despite scoring a century, Yashasvi Jaiswal did not get a place. Yashasvi Jaiswal has suffered the biggest blow in this 15-member team selection. Jaiswal was included as a replacement in the Afghanistan series after Virat Kohli got injured. In the third and last ODI played in Chennai, he played an unbeaten match-winning inning of 110 runs with the help of 14 fours and 3 brilliant sixes in just 86 balls. It was on the basis of the strong partnership of Jaiswal and Rohit Sharma that India achieved the target of 219 runs and made a clean sweep of Afghanistan 3-0.
