India: Telegram banned in NEET exam paper leak case, big challenge in front of Dubai based company

The government has taken a big step in the matter of leaking of medical entrance exam NEET papers in India. For this reason the Telegram app has been temporarily banned. This app is famous all over the world and its main office is located in Dubai.

The Government of India has banned Telegram to prevent paper leaks and cheating in NEET medical entrance exam. According to reports till June 20, 2026, the government is trying to stop this fraud. Telegram has also challenged this ban.

New features and updates in Telegram

Amidst the ban, Telegram has made many changes in its desktop version. Version 6.9.2 was released on June 16, 2026, which fixed app crashes and proxy issues. Now it also has apps for Apple Watch and Android Wear OS. Additionally, message formatting for bots has been improved and link opening controls have been improved.

Company Terms and Conditions

According to Telegram rules, users cannot send spam nor cheat anyone. Promoting violence or posting illegal content is strictly prohibited. In European countries, Britain and Australia, the age must be at least 18 years to register on this app. Besides, the company has also banned data scraping.

A company named Telegram FZ-LLC runs this app. It was started by Pavel and Nikolai Durov. The company is headquartered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and Pavel Durov is its CEO.
