Big upheaval in British politics, PM Keir Starmer may resign tomorrow

London. There are signs of a major upheaval in British politics, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer expected to resign on Monday following growing opposition and discontent within the Labor Party. According to a recent report in the British newspaper ‘The Observer’, Starmer may announce a formal deadline for stepping down from his post on Monday and electing new leadership.

Government sources and those close to the Prime Minister say that Mr Starmer is still focused on governing the country, but the clouds of crisis over his political future are becoming increasingly dark. More than 100 Labor MPs have openly called on him to step down or schedule his departure. Mr Starmer, who won a historic victory in the 2024 general election, has seen his popularity fall sharply among the public due to a number of recent controversies, scandals and policy retreats.

This critical situation for the British Prime Minister became more serious on Friday when the former Mayor of Greater Manchester and his arch rival Andy Burnham registered a big victory in the parliamentary by-election. This victory of Mr Burnham has cleared the way for him to Parliament, from where he can now directly challenge Mr Starmer’s leadership.
