7 killed due to ammonia gas leak in Tamil Nadu; PM Modi and President Murmu expressed deep sorrow, inquiry committee formed
Tamil Nadu Ammonia Gas Leak: Seven people died and several other workers were injured after ammonia gas leaked at a seafood export unit in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruvallur district. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Draupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan have expressed deep condolences on this tragic accident. Prime Minister Modi expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
At the same time, President Murmu and Vice President Radhakrishnan also termed this incident as tragic and expressed condolences to the affected families. On the other hand, the Tamil Nadu government has constituted a three-member committee to investigate the accident. Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has directed officials to provide all possible medical aid to the injured. Police have registered the case and started investigation and violation of industrial safety standards is also being investigated.
President expressed grief
President Draupadi Murmu posted on Instagram expressing grief. He wrote that it was very sad to hear the news of the death of people in a tragic accident in a factory in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. I express my deepest condolences to the grieving families. My prayers are with all the people affected by this accident. I wish for the speedy recovery of the injured.
Vice President gave condolences
Expressing grief over this incident, Vice President CP Radhakrishnan wrote in X Post that he was deeply saddened by the tragic deaths in the ammonia gas leak incident at a seafood export unit in Tiruvallur district of Tamil Nadu. My deepest condolences to the grieving families. I pray for the speedy and complete recovery of those undergoing treatment. My thoughts are with all those affected during this difficult time.
Minister Aadhav Arjun reached hospital
In this sequence, Tamil Nadu Government Minister Adhav Arjun reached Rajiv Gandhi Hospital and expressed his condolences to the deceased in this terrible accident. He met ammonia gas victims. Nine affected people have been admitted to the intensive care unit of Rajiv Gandhi Hospital in Chennai.
Three-member committee formed to investigate
Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay directed officials to provide all necessary medical help to the affected workers. He also ordered the formation of a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the cause of the leak.

Industrial safety standards will be examined
The Chief Minister directed the panel to conduct immediate inspection and submit a detailed report within 24 hours. The investigation is expected to examine safety protocols, maintenance processes and potential deficiencies at the facility. Police have registered the case and further investigation is underway. Officials are also investigating whether the accident occurred due to violation of industrial safety rules.
