Imtiaz Ali thanks theatres, exhibitors for backing ‘Main Vaapas Aaunga’
As Imtaiz Ali’s new movie, Main Vaapas Aaungastarted to gain momentum after being in a slump at the box office at opening, the filmmaker thanked all exhibitors, distributors and theatres for supporting the movie.
In a video message shared on Instagram, Ali credits cinema owners for regulating the film’s run in theatres and making it reach a wider audience.
“I want to thank you for your phenomenal support and encouraging the growth of Main Vaapas Aaunga in the theatres,” he said.
The Jab We Met director shared the feedback received from various exhibitors and cinema owners, reading a message from PVR INOX CEO Gautam Dutta.
Dutta noted that the film had “grown steadily through the week”, suggesting its momentum was driven by sustained audience interest rather than an opening-weekend surge.
Imtiaz Ali also posted multiple videos on his social media, expressing his gratitude to several cinema chains, including Eric Bond’s Cinemark, Daniel Clarke’s Cineworld, Humberto Michelacci’s Vue, Karen Liu’s adoencinemas, and others.

Released on June 12, 2026, Main Vaapas Aaunga features Sharvari, Vedang Raina, Diljit Dosanjh and Naseeruddin Shah.
Although the film opened modestly at the box office, positive word-of-mouth has reportedly helped boost its performance, prompting exhibitors to increase screenings in several regions.
