WorkAction Trend: Travel and Lifestyle of the New Generation
new trend of workaction
Nowadays, people’s working style and lifestyle has changed a lot. Now instead of sitting on an office chair, people are going on trips with laptops and bags. This is known as ‘workaction’. According to Zoomcar’s ‘Travel Trends 2025’ report, Indians will be at the forefront in 2025 in combining work and travel fun. Now work boundaries are breaking down, and people are exploring new spaces while working from anywhere.
Growing popularity of short trips
In today’s time, people are preferring to take short trips rather than long holidays. In 2025, 71% of trips will be of less than two days, while in 2023 this figure was 66%. Along with this, people are also going on longer trips of more than 7 days, which has seen an increase of 28%. During festivals, such as Holi, Republic Day and Gandhi Jayanti, there has been a huge increase of 125% in bookings as compared to normal days.
Gen Z’s new journey
The new generation, called Gen Z, is at the forefront of adopting this lifestyle. The share of youth aged 18 to 25 years in travel has increased from 22% in 2024 to 31% in 2025. This young generation is more interested in traveling alone and visiting quiet places. For them, traveling is not only a way of traveling but also a way of working from their favorite place.
Increasing demand for big vehicles
Giving priority to comfort during travel, people are now preferring bigger vehicles. Bookings for SUVs have increased from 30% to 36%, while demand for small hatchback cars has declined from 57% to 51%. Larger vehicles are proving to be more convenient for traveling with laptops and other luggage. Apart from this, booking of vehicles with 6 to 7 seats has also increased from 16% to 18%.
WorkAction’s impact in small towns
This impact of WorkAction is no longer limited to big cities only. Bookings have increased by 30% in tier 2 cities and by 14% in tier 3 cities. Cities like Jaipur, Indore, Siliguri and Madurai have seen significant growth. Overall, Zoomcar bookings were 3,88,000 in FY 2024, which has increased to 4,27,000 in FY 2025.
Increasing demand for car delivery at home
Nowadays people want the car to be delivered at their home, hence the number of people taking car delivery at home has increased by 33%. People are also relying on car sharing. The biggest evidence of this is that 80% of trips in 2025 received a rating of 4-stars or above, up from 76% in 2023. Abhilash Kasliwal, Business Head, Zoomcar, says that now self-drive has become not just a means of traveling but an essential lifestyle for professionals.
