‘Shah Rukh Khan used to supply samosas in NSD’, Pankaj Kapoor narrated the story related to SRK

Meanwhile, veteran actor Pankaj Kapoor made some interesting revelations about Shahrukh Khan. Pankaj Kapoor shared one thing related to Shahrukh Khan which very few people know. While sharing an anecdote related to King Khan’s National School of Drama in Delhi, he told how young Shahrukh used to supply samosas to the artistes in the NSD canteen many times.

During a conversation on the YouTube channel of ‘Kindle Cast’, Pankaj Kapur recalled the days of National School of Drama in the mid-70s. This was the time when Pankaj Kapoor used to be a student there. Talking about those days, Pankaj Kapoor said that young Shahrukh Khan would often come to the NSD canteen and help serve refreshments to theater artistes during the interval. Pankaj Kapoor says, ‘Samosas were served there during the interval and many times those samosas were supplied by none other than Shahrukh himself. At that time he was a small child of 10 years.




  • Pankaj Kapoor told that he saw Shahrukh Khan for the first time in the NSD canteen and during this time he was about 10 years old. The veteran actor told that at that time Shahrukh’s father or uncle was associated with the canteen, due to which Shahrukh also used to come to the canteen often. Pankaj Kapoor says- ‘I think his uncle or father used to run the canteen at that time.’

    Pankaj Kapoor worked with Shahrukh Khan in the action-thriller ‘Ram Jaane’ released in 1995. But, at that time, Pankaj Kapoor would hardly have guessed that this small child often seen in the NSD canteen would later become the biggest star of Hindi cinema. Let us tell you, Shahrukh’s father Mir Taj Mohammad Khan used to run a restaurant in Delhi and he had a famous outlet in Safdarjung, whose name was ‘Khatir’. After the death of Shahrukh’s father, his mother ran this restaurant till her last days, as it was the main business of her family.
