New ‘Aadhaar’ mobile app becomes people’s choice, more than 3 crore people downloaded it
Records downloaded in the last five months
New Delhi. The new ‘Aadhaar’ mobile app introduced by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has been downloaded more than 3.1 crore times within five months. According to the official statement released on Monday, about 40 lakh users have updated their mobile numbers through this app, while about 8.5 lakh people have used the address modification facility.
The authority said that this app, which was introduced five months ago, is getting rapid acceptance across the country and its increasing usage shows the increasing trust of the people in it. This new Aadhaar app provides many services including updating mobile number and address through smartphone. It also has the facility to share contact details digitally through QR codes, eliminating the need to carry visiting cards.
The app includes features like biometric lock/unlock with one click, face verification for attendance proof, authentication history and QR based editable contact card. Along with this, users can download e-Aadhaar and also take online appointment to visit Aadhaar Seva Centres.
Through the new app, verification can be done without providing the physical copy of Aadhaar by scanning the QR code of the hotel during check-in at the hotel. The authority said the app helps in multiple use cases like hospitalization, visitor management, entry into events and identity verification of gig workers and service partners.
