Serena Williams to make ‘wild card entry’ at Wimbledon
American tennis star Serena Williams is set to make her anticipated return to the courts.
The legendary player will make her return in the 2026 ladies’ singles at Wimbledon.
The athlete’s return will be marked with a wild card entry.
The news was announced on the tournament’s official Instagram account on Sunday, June 21.
A picture of Serena was shared with the caption “This is not a drill.”
The photograph of Serena included “Serena Returns” in bold white letters written over green grass of the tennis court.
The news comes just days after it was confirmed that the player is to reunite with her former doubles partner, sister Venus Williams.
The duo is one of the most successful pairs in the sport’s history. They have won 14 Grand Slam doubles titles, including six at Wimbledon.

The tournament is set to begin on June 29.
Serena last played a singles’ match at the 2022 US Open, when she lost to Ajla Tomljanovic in the third round.
The American legend recently shared that her 8-year-old daughter, Olympia, inspired her to make her tennis comeback.
