Historical events of 22 June: Amrish Puri, a great actor and villain of Indian cinema, was born on 22 June 1932 in Punjab. His acting and impressive voice gave him special recognition. He worked in more than 450 films, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

His most memorable role was in the film ‘Mr. India’ as ‘Mogambo’, in which his dialogue ‘Mogambo Khush Hua’ is still famous. Apart from this, he also gave stellar performances in films like ‘Karan Arjun’, ‘Gadar’, ‘Ek Prem Katha’ and ‘Nayak The Real Hero’.

Amrish Puri played negative roles as well as positive and emotional characters. He died on 12 January 2005, but his art is still alive in the hearts of cinema lovers.
