While leaving, former UK PM got Trump’s gift, told windmills as the reason for his departure

New Delhi: There was a big upheaval in British politics on Monday when Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation from his post after the internal deadlock in the Labor Party. After this decision of Starmer, US President Donald Trump has taken a sharp taunt. Addressing reporters from the Oval Office of the White House, Trump strongly criticized Starmer’s policies and said that he had ‘ruined the entire country because of windmills’.

Accused of ignoring North Sea oil

Donald Trump strongly attacked Starmer’s energy policy, saying that Britain has a huge reserve of oil in the North Sea. But in the name of environment, Starmer did not allow drilling there. Trump said that I told him directly that you are making a big mistake on the energy front. You have oil reserves, but you have filled the entire country with just windmills. For Britain it was like destroying its own economic potential with its own hands.

NATO and tensions on the strategic front

Apart from the energy crisis, the US President also revealed the lack of defense and diplomatic coordination between the two countries. Trump criticized Starmer’s stubborn stance on the use of a particular island in the NATO context. He told that Starmer had initially stopped America from using that military island, which was a very weak and wrong decision. Although he later allowed it, by then the strategic relations between the two countries had been damaged.

Three major failures on the domestic front

Trump underlined that under Starmer’s leadership, Britain mainly fell into the trap of three serious problems.

Severe energy crisis:Shortage of electricity and fuel at household level due to pro-environmental policies.

Uncontrolled Immigration: Inability to control the uncontrolled influx of migrants.

Increasing Crime: Laxity of the administration on the law and order front.

Interestingly, just a day before Starmer’s official resignation, on Sunday itself, Trump had accurately predicted on his social media platform ‘Truth Social’ that Starmer would have to step down due to immigration and energy crisis.

How will Britain’s new PM be chosen?

Starmer decided to step back after being challenged for leadership by Labor Party veteran Andy Burnham, who is also being called the ‘King of the North’. Starmer has instructed the Labor Party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) to decide on a new election programme. According to the plan, the process of nomination for the new leader will start from July 9, which will be completed before the summer holidays. Britain will get a new Prime Minister before the new session of Parliament begins in September. Until then, Keir Starmer will continue to serve as acting Prime Minister to ensure a smooth transfer of power.
