Thirumavalavan calls all-party meeting on Mekedatu controversy and NEET!
On the other hand, Viduthalai Chiruthigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol Thirumavalavan expressed concern over the continuing impact of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). He said the recent deaths of several students, including one from Salem, due to examination-related stress was extremely sad.
He appealed to the government to deliberate extensively on the issue and examine all legal options to challenge the examination system. “The government should take appropriate steps through constitutional and legal means after discussing with legal experts and political leaders,” Thirumavalavan said.
He also expressed concern about the future of AIADMK and said that the current situation of the party is serious. The AIADMK leadership should seriously consider the current challenges.
Thirumavalavan also expressed concern over incidents of ‘honour killing’ and violence against women in the state. He said that often adequate action is not taken in such cases.
He suggested that just as the state government has formed a special task force for crimes against women, similarly concrete steps should be taken to stop honor killings. He said that VCK and its allies would soon submit a formal memorandum to the Chief Minister in this regard.
He also demanded that the proceedings of the Tamil Nadu Assembly be telecast live in its entirety like that of Parliament, so as to increase transparency and public participation.
Former state president of BJP K. Responding to speculations that Annamalai was launching a new political party, Thirumavalavan alleged that the BJP and RSS background could be behind the move.
He said that even if the new party tries to present a different image, its ideology will remain the same. He claimed that the people of Tamil Nadu will recognize its false form and reject it.
