PM Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojna: Even today, a large population in our country works in the unorganized sector, such as street vendors, rickshaw pullers, laborers, washermen, and domestic workers. These people do not have any tied pension or PF facility to survive in old age.

Keeping this in mind, a very strict scheme of the Central Government works, whose name is Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana (PM-SYM). What is the scheme and how does it work?

PM Shram Yogi Maan-Dhan Yojana is a ‘Voluntary and Contributory’ pension scheme. This means that in this you have to contribute a very small amount (premium) every month according to your age, and the government also adds the same amount to your account as per the amount you deposit.

  • Age and Premium: People between the age of 18 to 40 years can participate in this scheme. If you join at the age of 18, you will have to deposit only ₹55 every month (the remaining ₹55 will be matched by the government). Whereas if you join at the age of 40, you will have to deposit ₹ 200 every month.
