From assistant director to successful producer, Atul Agnihotri’s distinct identity!
His big debut came in 1993 with Mahesh Bhatt’s critically acclaimed film ‘Sir’. Soon after, in 1994, he played the role of an honest police officer ‘Avi’ in Sanjay Gupta’s ‘Aatish’, which earned him recognition among the audience. ‘Krantiveer’, released in the same year, created new records of success at the box office. After this, he worked in films like ‘Naaraz’ (1994), ‘Yashwant’ (1997) and ‘Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam’ (2002).
Born on 24 June 1970 in Delhi, the most beautiful chapter of Atul Agnihotri’s life began when he met Salman Khan’s sister Alvira Khan. The two met for the first time on the sets of a paint advertisement. After this, their relationship deepened on the sets of the film ‘Jagriti’ (1992) and they got married.
Atul Agnihotri has two children. Son Ayaan Agnihotri is a musician and daughter Alizeh Agnihotri is a model and Bollywood actress. After directing ‘Dil Ne Jise Apna Kaha’ (2004) and ‘Hello’ (2008), Atul Agnihotri realized that his real strength lay in film production. After this he laid the foundation of ‘Reel Life Productions’.
In 2011, he produced Salman Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Bodyguard’. This film made a lot of noise at the box office. Atul received the ‘Most Successful Producer’ award in 2012. After this, the drama film ‘Bharat’ released in 2019 proved his production skills by earning a huge amount of Rs 197.34 crore.
He is redeveloping the 60-year-old ‘Palimala Cooperative Housing Society’ of Bandra West through his company ‘Shivasai Homemaker Infra LLP’ in the end of 2025 and beginning of 2026. The company has paid stamp duty of Rs 1.08 crore in December 2025 for this premium project.
According to some reports, Atul Agnihotri is preparing to start shooting the mega budget superhero film under the direction of Raj and DK in October-November 2026. In this film, Salman Khan will be seen in the unique role of a retired superhero.
