Jaishankar’s visit to Mongolia, meaningful discussions were held on regional and global issues!

India’s Foreign Minister S. During his two-day (22–23 June 2026) visit to Mongolia, Jaishankar held in-depth discussions with his counterpart B Battsethtseg and President Khurelsukh Ukhna on global issues, including bilateral relations. This visit took place at the invitation of Battsetseg.

The Ministry of External Affairs issued a statement on Tuesday giving information about the important milestones of the visit. He said that during the visit, the Foreign Minister met Mongolia’s Foreign Minister and Head of Cabinet Secretariat B. Had a detailed conversation with Enkhbayar. He paid a courtesy call on Mongolian President Khurelsukh Ukhna, as well as Parliament Speaker S. Byambatsogt and Education Minister L. Also met Enkh-Amgalan.

During this, both sides reviewed the progress made in bilateral relations after the visit of the President of Mongolia to India in October 2025 and discussed further strengthening the India-Mongolia strategic partnership.

In the talks, it was agreed to enhance cooperation in areas such as development partnership, trade, education, culture, capacity building, supply chain, mining and critical minerals, defence, air connectivity and people-to-people relations. The two countries also exchanged views on regional and global issues.

The External Affairs Minister also visited the oil refinery project site being built in collaboration with India at Altanshiri (Dornogovi Province), Mongolia, where he was informed about the progress of the project. The visit was accompanied by Mongolian Foreign Minister and Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources Gongor Damdinnyam.

In addition, he also visited Gandantegchinlen Monastery in Ulaanbaatar, which is an important site from cultural and spiritual point of view. About which he wrote on Twitter, “Payed homage to the historic Gandan Monastery in Ulaanbaatar. This monastery is a symbol of the special and spiritual relationship between India and Mongolia.”

Pleased to see the digitization of Buddhist manuscripts being done with India’s help and wrote, “Glad to see the project of digitizing one million Buddhist manuscripts underway under the India-Mongolia partnership. India is committed to continue supporting this monastery in the future.”
