Telegram returns to India: Available on Play Store, do these things in case of problem

Telegram returns to India: Telegram app is back in India. After about a week of ban, it can be seen again on Google Play Store and Apple App Store. The government had put a temporary ban on the NEET UG exam due to the controversy. Currently, Telegram services have been restored for most users, but technical problems still persist on some telecom networks.

Why was the ban imposed?
This ban on Telegram was in effect from June 16 to June 22. The government had taken this step to prevent the leak and spread of NEET UG exam papers. During this period, telecom operators blocked access to the app and Google and Apple removed it from their stores. The government believed that Telegram’s features such as anonymous usernames and re-creation of restricted channels were hindering the leak prevention.

Jio and Airtel users facing problems
Despite the restoration of service, many customers of Jio and Airtel are still facing difficulty in running the app. Some users are having trouble logging in or opening old chats. People are also complaining about this on social media. It is believed that this technological improvement is gradually being implemented in different areas and networks.

Telegram’s side and the court’s stance
In this case, Telegram had claimed that they had removed more than 900 links of leaked content even before the ban. Founder Pavel Durov also criticized the ban, saying that it causes inconvenience to ordinary users. At the same time, Delhi High Court had supported the government’s decision and said that this ban was justified considering the seriousness of the national examination.
