Mamta Banerjee’s big action, expelled 7 rebel TMC leaders from the party
Kolkata: The internal strife in Trinamool Congress has now come to the fore. Mamata Banerjee faction on Tuesday took action against 7 big leaders of the party and expelled them.
The leaders against whom action has been taken include Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas, Javed Ahmed Khan, Arup Roy, Rathin Ghosh, Biplab Mitra, Sabina Yasmin and Snehasish Chakraborty. The party has accused all of them of being involved in indiscipline and anti-party activities.
Rebel group had claimed to remove Mamata
On Monday, the rebel group, calling itself the real TMC, had announced the removal of Mamata Banerjee from the post of chairman. Many leaders considered close to Mamata also participated in this meeting.
In response to this, Mamata faction issued show cause notices to the first 7 leaders. These leaders were thrown out of the party within a few hours of the notice.
The biggest blow to Firhad Hakim
The biggest name among the expelled leaders is Firhad Hakim. He was considered the most trusted leader of Mamata Banerjee. The TMC government had also specifically amended the law to make him the Mayor of Kolkata.
Arup Roy was declared the chairman of TMC by the rebel group. The party says that all these leaders were included in the 30-member committee formed by the rebel group.
Demand to make Di a guardian
Rebel group leader Ritabrata Banerjee said that district presidents and district committees will be formed in the coming days. He made it clear that the party’s stand regarding Mamata Banerjee is the same as before. According to him, party leaders want Mamata Banerjee to now play the role of a mentor and guide the organization.
Speculations of break in TMC intensify
After this entire incident, the stir in Bengal politics has intensified. On one hand, Mamata group has taken strict action against the rebels, while on the other hand, the rebel group is calling itself the real TMC.
Political experts believe that this conflict will affect both the organizational structure and election strategy of the party in the coming days. At present, the Mamata Banerjee camp has made it clear that anti-party activities will not be tolerated.
