Big action by CBI, Haryana’s IAS Pankaj Aggarwal arrested in IDFC First scam

Chandigarh: CBI has taken major action regarding the alleged scam worth crores of rupees in Haryana. Let us tell you, the agency has arrested senior IAS officer Pankaj Aggarwal in this case. He is accused of embezzling crores of rupees from the bank accounts of government departments during his tenure. But let us know when this incident happened.

When did this scam happen?

According to the CBI investigation, when Pankaj Aggarwal was the Principal Secretary of the School Education and Agriculture Department, the accounts of Haryana School Education Project Council and Haryana State Agricultural Marketing Board were opened in the Chandigarh branch of IDFC First Bank. It is alleged that an amount of about Rs 60.54 crore was misused through these accounts, causing huge loss to the government exchequer.

The investigating agency says that the prescribed rules and government guidelines were not followed in the operation of bank accounts. After this, the money was allegedly diverted to other institutions through suspicious transactions. CBI claims that during the investigation they have also found important evidence related to the case.

The matter is not limited to just Rs 60 crore

This matter is not limited to just Rs 60 crore. CBI is already investigating the alleged embezzlement of about Rs 657 crore related to the accounts of Haryana government and Chandigarh administration. According to the agency, the Haryana government has suffered a loss of about Rs 504 crore and the Chandigarh administration has suffered a loss of about Rs 153 crore.

Who is under investigation?

So far, many bank officials, government employees, private individuals and companies have come under investigation in this matter. Not only this, CBI has also filed chargesheet against many accused in this case. At the same time, the agency is also investigating cases of other financial irregularities related to Chandigarh Smart City, Municipal Corporation and CREST. Officials say that the investigation is still going on and more big revelations may be made in the coming days. Now it remains to be seen what revelations happen in the coming days.
