Nissan Tecton First Look Front; The entry will be called ‘Baby Patrol’

Nissan has released a new teaser that shows the clearest glimpse of its much-awaited SUV ‘Tecton’. The global debut of this vehicle will be held in Mumbai on July 9, and before that, the information about the front design of this mid-size SUV has been revealed. Earlier, the company had introduced this car as ‘Baby Petrol’. This is going to be a very important and big launch for Nissan in the very tight midsize SUV segment in India.

In the new teaser, the Tecton SUV is seen in black color and its front end is kept bold and elevated like the company’s premium ‘Nissan Petrol’ big car. It features a large grille with horizontal bars, which gives the car a powerful road presence. A red stripe runs through the center of the grille, connecting to the glowing Nissan logo. Apart from this, the name ‘TEKTON’ is written in bold letters on the front side of the bonnet. The middle part of the bonnet is slightly higher, the edges of the bumper are given vertical LED daytime running lights and square LED headlamps, which give the car a rough-and-tough look.

Boxy and muscular styling

According to earlier leaks, the look of the Tecton will resemble a conventional boxy SUV. It will feature a flat roofline, large wheel arches, roof rails and connected LED tail-lamps at the rear. This boxy avatar will set it apart from other cars in the market.

A cabin equipped with features

The Nissan Tecton will be based on the platform of the new Renault Duster, but will have a completely different design. The interior of the car is likely to get a dual digital display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, wireless smartphone charging, connected car technology and a 360-degree camera. For safety, it can get 6 airbags, electronic stability control and safety features like ‘Level 2 EDAS’ in high-end variants.

Powerful turbo petrol engine

The car is likely to get the same engine options as the new Renault Duster. Its base variant could be powered by a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (100 PS of power and 160 Nm of torque). While the top variants can be offered a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine (163 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque), which will have a choice of manual and DCT automatic gearboxes. In the future, the company may also launch a strong hybrid version. After its launch in India, the car will compete directly with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Maruti Grand Vitara.
