Zimbabwe Cricket on Tuesday (23 June) announced a 15-member squad for the one-off Test match to be played against Bangladesh. The biggest news in this team is that 28-year-old fast bowler Richard Nagarava has been given the captaincy of Zimbabwe in Test cricket for the first time.
This one-off Test match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will be played at the Harare Sports Club from June 28 to July 2. Left-arm fast bowler Richard Ngarawa has been one of Zimbabwe’s most reliable players over the past few years. Nagarava, who has performed brilliantly in limited overs cricket, will now be seen leading the Test team.
However, one of Zimbabwe’s most experienced players, Sikandar Raza, is not available for this match. Raza has been allowed to play the 2026 Vitality Blast for Worcestershire in England, due to which he will not be available in this Test match.
It is noteworthy that the teams of Bangladesh and Zimbabwe last met in a two-match Test series in April-May last year, which ended in a 1-1 draw. Bangladesh has had a slight upper hand in the Test matches played between the two countries so far. In the Test matches played between the two teams, Bangladesh has won 9 and Zimbabwe has won 8, while three matches have been drawn.
