As part of the Punjab Government’s “War on Drugs” campaign, a necessary review meeting was held between the Drug Abuse Prevention Front and the Police Department.

Amritsar – As part of the Punjab Government’s “War on Drugs” campaign, an important review meeting was held today between the Drug Abuse Prevention Front and Amritsar Police Department. The meeting was led by Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar on behalf of the Police Department, while Majha Zone Incharge of Drug Abuse Prevention Front, Dixit Dhawan attended the meeting along with his colleagues.

During the meeting, the ongoing action against drug smugglers in Amritsar city was reviewed and discussions were held to strengthen and intensify this campaign. In the meeting, special emphasis was laid on the fact that SHO level police should be strengthened at the ground level so that drug smugglers can be eliminated from the localities and streets. During this time, it was also considered that better coordination should be created between the people and the police to free the society from this terrible evil of drug addiction.

Dixit Dhawan, in-charge of Majha Zone of Drug Detoxification Morcha, said that under the instructions of the Punjab Government, all the volunteers of Drug Detoxification Morcha are making important contribution in the campaign against drug addiction. Morcha members are reaching the localities of villages and cities and mobilizing people against drug addiction. He said that the Drug Detoxification Morcha is with the Police Department to root out this evil of drug addiction.

During the meeting, all the officers and representatives of the Drug Detoxification Morcha assured to work with mutual cooperation to make the ongoing fight against drugs more effective. On this occasion, it was also reiterated that to make Punjab drug free, the government, police department and every section of the society will have to fulfill their responsibilities together. DCP Law and Order Vijay Alam, ADCP City-1, City-2 and City-3, DSPs of all sub-divisions of Amritsar and representatives of Drug Detoxification Front Honey Nahar, Jai Kush Buttar, Kulwant Singh Wadali, Sahib Singh Gill, Manjeet Singh Fauji and Rahul Seth were also present during the meeting.
