Lok Sabha member from Krishnanagar, Mahua Moitra spoke openly on the rebellion in TMC, MPs leaving the party and her relations with West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari. He told that the news of Sayoni Ghosh changing sides had surprised him. While talking to BCC, Mahua Moitra said that Suvendu was once her good friend. He had also helped in elections sometimes.
In her conversation, Mahua Moitra recalled her 2016 assembly elections contested from Karimnagar seat. He told that only Suvendu had helped him in that election. Even before this, when he did not get the Lok Sabha ticket in 2014, Suvendu had consoled him.

‘Suvendu my good friend’
Mahua said, ‘Suvendu was a very good friend of mine. When we were in the party together, he supported us a lot. When I fought for the first time in Karimpur, no one was coming to campaign for me. My first rally was conducted by Suvendu Adhikari.
‘I cried the whole night, Suvendu said- No sister, I am here’
He further said, ‘Whenever I needed flags or anything else, Suvendu used to send them to me. In 2014, I was supposed to get a ticket, but when I didn’t get it, I cried the whole night. Suvendu came and told me that no sister, we are not with you. All these remain emotional connections. Suvendu joined BJP. We don’t talk because he is in another political party. This is a different thing, but no one can forget emotional and personal relationships.

Sayoni’s decision surprised me: Mahua
When Mahua was asked, she was a little surprised about Sayoni Ghosh. In response, Mahua Moitra said, ‘I was also surprised about Sayoni Ghosh. I really believed him to be a ‘young fresh blood’ because I thought he was for opposition politics. Everyone else had gone here and there. So I was not surprised about these. I was surprised to whom (Sayoni) the party gave so much in such a short time. Made MLA, National Youth President and given Jadavpur, Mamata Banerjee’s stronghold. That’s why I was surprised.
