‘Kharge family looted land worth Rs 100 crore’, BJP alleges corruption
For the last few days, the land scam case related to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has been in the news in the country. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s family of land grabbing. BJP says that the Kharge family has looted land worth about Rs 100 crore in Karnataka and this has been done through a trust. The party has also taken the name of Priyank Kharge in this matter.
BJP national spokesperson Pradeep Bhandari alleged in the press conference that this trust is a private trust of the Kharge family, of which Mallikarjun Kharge, Priyank Kharge, his wife and son-in-law are members. He said that this trust was given several land plots in Karnataka and all this was achieved by using power and influence.

What is BJP’s allegation?
BJP claimed that in the year 2024, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB) allotted 5 acres of industrial land to Siddharth Vihara Trust. According to BJP, this land was given for research and development (R&D) in the aerospace and defense sector, the market value of which is around Rs 100 crore. The BJP leader raised the question as to on what basis such important industrial land was given to a trust which had no previous connection with aerospace or defense research.

Also accused of allotment of 19 acres of land
The BJP leader said that this is not just one case. He alleged that in 2016, when the Congress was in power in Karnataka, 19 acres of land was also given to Siddharth Vihara Trust in Gulbarga district. He says that this land was allotted in the name of research and development of Pali language. He raised the question as to how the same trust kept acquiring such a large amount of land in the name of research at different places.

Corruption law also mentioned
BJP described this matter as very serious as per the law and cited the Prevention of Corruption Act. Bhandari said that this case is directly a cognizable offense under Section 13(1)A and 13(1)B of this law. According to him, if a government employee misuses his position and influence to get financial benefit or property for himself or his family, then it is considered corruption.
BJP has also questioned Mallikarjun Kharge as to what research or work his private trust had done, on the basis of which such valuable government land was given to him.
