AI and sustainable development will transform India’s infrastructure: Industry!
Sandstrom said that during visits to energy projects in Mundra in Gujarat and Hyderabad, he saw many green energy initiatives and focus on sustainability in India.
He said such environment-friendly projects should also be implemented in different regions and sectors to promote long-term economic growth.
“The projects I have seen around Mundra and the Kutch desert are based on vertical integration, where one side provides clean power and the other side provides green ammonia, green steel or other similar clean products or services,” he said.
He further said, “With this, shipping and transport can be made cleaner and the industry can be electrified.”
Talking about Artificial Intelligence and its role in industrial transformation, Sandstrom said that for economic development, there is a need to focus not only on industry but also on many policy areas. He said the World Economic Forum is focusing on collective action and encouraging companies and institutions to work together rather than individually.
He said that India has made a lot of progress in renewable energy, especially solar power and other clean energy projects. The large-scale installation of systems in the Khavda area of Gujarat and pumped storage projects in Hyderabad demonstrate the country’s commitment to the energy transition.
According to Sandstrom, these changes could further help in the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, which are used in transportation, agriculture and other sectors. He said that moving from a traditional system to a sustainable model requires large-scale planning, coordination and a systematic approach.
At the same time, Divyanshu Kumar, Founder and CEO of Solinas Integrity, emphasized on the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in urban infrastructure management. He said AI-powered robotic solutions are changing the way sewers and pipelines are maintained across India.
Kumar said that artificial intelligence helps in detecting blockages, leakages and structural deficiencies in underground sewer and water networks. Robotic inspection also helps municipal corporations maintain infrastructure more efficiently and reduce operational costs.
