Rahul Gandhi wrote on social media, the case of bonded labor of workers in Muzaffarnagar is very shocking. In addition to being forced to work without wages, workers were bitten by dogs, speared, whipped, and fed cattle feed. This is an attack on human dignity – the victims should be rehabilitated with justice and the culprits should be given the harshest punishment.

He further wrote, At the same time, it is important to ask under what compulsions the workers get trapped in such dangerous conditions. As jobs disappear, incomes stagnate, and protections for the most vulnerable, such as MGNREGA and labor laws, are weakened, desperation grows. People who have no other option or protection become easy victims of such exploitation. This is no ordinary criminal phenomenon—this is the debris of a collapsed economy.
