Kuwait Visit: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio arrives in Kuwait, Iran and security issues will be discussed extensively
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has now reached Kuwait. He has come here on a special tour, before which he held many important meetings in UAE. The main objective of this tour is to discuss with the Gulf countries the security of the region and the ongoing agreements with Iran.

State Department spokesperson Tommy Pigott has confirmed this visit. Marco Rubio will be on a tour of UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain from June 23 to June 25, 2026. He reached Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, June 22 and after the meetings there, has now reached Kuwait.
Discuss agreement with Iran
A major reason for this visit is an initial agreement between the US and Iran, which was put forward by Vice President JD Vance in Switzerland. There are some concerns in the Gulf countries regarding this agreement, to address which Marco Rubio himself has gone there. He will explain to the Gulf countries how this agreement will be beneficial for them.
Rubio made it clear that the proposed $300 billion fund for the reconstruction of Iran will be given only when the Iranian government changes its ways and stops promoting terrorism. He also said that according to the agreement, all hostilities and fighting in the region should end, which means that Iran will have to stop funding its proxy groups.
Security and future planning
The concerns of the Gulf countries, especially the UAE, Kuwait and Bahrain, are heightened because these countries were hit by Iranian drone and missile attacks during recent conflicts. For this reason, these countries want a tougher stance than America in the matter of Iran.
- Main issues: Agreement with Iran and ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
- Target: To promote peace and stability in the entire region.
- Next stop: Meeting with the GCC in Bahrain, where shared regional priorities will be discussed.
