Clash in Kanpur Municipal Corporation: 75 councilors of ruling BJP threatened mass resignation

Kanpur, 24 June. A fight has broken out between the councilors of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Kanpur Municipal Corporation of Uttar Pradesh. It can be easily guessed that more than 75 councilors of the ruling party have openly announced a fight against six alleged rebel councilors of their own party including Pawan Gupta.

including Pawan Gupta 6 Demand to expel alleged rebel councilors from the party

Many councilors, united under the leadership of Ward No. 93 Govind Nagar councilor and BJP leader Sadan Naveen Pandit, have warned the top leadership. He has said that if these grossly undisciplined leaders are not immediately expelled from the party, they will all collectively resign from their posts.

Serious criminal charges against rebel leaders

Naveen Pandit said that they are all very disciplined workers of BJP, but now the water has gone above their heads. Taking the name of councilors like Pawan Gupta and Ankit Maurya directly, he said that these people have created only ruckus from the beginning till the end of the House. He claimed that he had many solid and legal evidences of criminal cases against the rebel councilors. He alleged that those who are facing cases like murder and extortion are today making false allegations against BJP.

Conspiracy to tarnish the mayor’s image

The united BJP councilors have a direct allegation that these six so-called councilors are making a malicious attempt to tarnish the spotless image of the Mayor of Kanpur at the behest of the opposition and some invisible masters. These rebel elements are today hatching a deep conspiracy to defame the state government and the BJP organization through social media. Due to their administrative ignorance, these elements are spreading this false propaganda among the public that the development work of the city is being done only by the Municipal Commissioner whereas the truth is that the supreme constitutional responsibility for any development work and policy formulation within the Municipal Corporation rests only with the Mayor.

Old dispute between Mayor and Pawan Gupta

Actually, the main reason for this big dispute going on between Ashok Nagar BJP councilor Pawan Gupta and Mayor Pramila Pandey is alleged corruption, nepotism and a complaint made directly to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Councilor Pawan Gupta had earlier made very serious allegations against the Mayor’s son of illegally interfering in the government work of the Municipal Corporation and threatening other councilors. Angered by these allegations, a video of Mayor Pramila Pandey had also surfaced earlier, in which she was seen getting angry at some leaders of her own party. Allegation of breach in CM Yogi’s security

Amidst this tension, a new controversy arose during the recent visit of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to Kanpur. Despite very tight security arrangements during the Chief Minister’s visit, Pawan Gupta and some of his associates forcibly submitted their memorandum to the officials. Other BJP councilors have opened a front against this act, considering it a major breach in the security of the Chief Minister and extremely objectionable.

He has demanded a high-level investigation into the administrative ‘sleeper cell’ giving protection to rebel councilors in this ultra-secure area. Describing the organization as paramount, Naveen Pandit said that this fight is not about any individual but to save the dignity and credibility of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

75 Threat of mass resignation of councilors

Naveen Pandit bluntly warned the top leadership and said, ‘The organization is our mother-father and we are presenting our views in front of them only. Now the leadership will have to decide whether to keep us in the party or show these six black sheep the way out.

He made it clear that if strict action is not taken, more than 75 nationalist councilors of Kanpur Municipal Corporation will collectively resign and march from Lucknow to Delhi. They are fully prepared to prove their absolute majority by conducting a direct parade of these 75 councilors on any platform.
