Aliganj fire incident: Uproar over suspended officer’s statement, video creates stir
Lucknow. Lucknow Fire department officer Kamalendra Kumar i.e. KK Singh, who was suspended amid the investigation of the Aliganj fire incident, gave such a statement which has created an uproar. After this horrific fire, on the orders of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, four officers were initially considered guilty and suspended, among them FSSO of the fire department KK Singh.
On Wednesday, two days after the suspension, KK Singh posted a video on social media, alleging that he has been made a scapegoat in the horrific fire incident. In fact, to protect the officers who are responsible for fire safety, who have the authority to give administrative orders, junior officers have been suspended. KK Singh said that the action taken against him is unjust.
Declaring himself innocent, KK Singh said that his work was limited only to local inspection and its reporting. They do not have the authority to grant fire clearance or enforce safety standards on a large scale. The matter then took a U-turn and within a short time KK Singh said on social media that this video was made to mislead him. He is hurt about the people killed in the fire. The question is whether KK Singh is under someone’s pressure, who made the video by misleading him.
Two statements of KK Singh have raised many questions. If the first video was correct then why was there a need to clarify later? Can contradictory statements during the SIT investigation affect the investigation? After the death of 15 people in the Aliganj fire, the CM had ordered a high-level inquiry. SIT has been formed to investigate the matter and four officers have been suspended with immediate effect. These include FSSO Kamalendra Kumar Singh of the fire department. With this contradictory video surfacing, a new debate has started regarding administrative action along with investigation. Eyes are on the SIT report.
