Will Salman Khan Revive Suriya’s Shelved Bollywood Debut Film ‘Karna’?

Mumbai: ‘Karna’, a long-shelved project once touted as Suriya’s Bollywood debut may finally be revived, but with Salman Khan playing the lead.

As per a report by 123 Telugu, Suriya had joined hands with filmmaker Rakeysh Omprakash for a mythological drama. However, the film was shelved during the pre-production stage due to budget constraints.

Now, fresh reports suggest that Salman could replace Suriya in Omprakash’s ambitious period drama, which is set to be backed by Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment.

The reported collaboration has already created considerable buzz, with industry sources claiming that Salman and Omprakash have been in talks for a grand period action drama for quite some time.

“Salman Khan and Farhan Akhtar have been meeting regularly over the last month and discussing a potential collaboration. Salman has loved what he has heard so far and has shown keen interest in the project. The talks are still at an early stage and have not yet reached the paperwork phase, but both sides are excited about the possibility of coming together for the first time,” a source was quoted as saying by Pinkvilla.

The source further added, “It is a massive period action drama mounted on a grand scale. The idea is to tell the story across 2 films.”

Salman is currently awaiting the release of ‘his upcoming film ‘Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace’.

He will next be in Vamshi Paidipally’s ‘SVC63’.

The actor also has Raj & DK’s big-budget superhero comedy lined up.
