Why Separate Changing Room for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi During England Tour?

Why Separate Changing Room for Vaibhav Sooryavanshi during upcoming England tour? India’s 15-year-old prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will be barred from the Indian team’s main dressing room during the upcoming tour — but it’s not punishment. It’s the law.

ICC and ECB safeguarding rules ban players under 16 from sharing adult changing facilities. That means Sooryavanshi gets his own room while India face Ireland and England.

“The Indian team have been given three separate rooms and safeguarding laws have been advised,” Cricket Ireland reportedly told Reuters Wednesday.

The ECB’s “Safe Hands” policy kicks in for all matches in the UK. No U16s in senior changing rooms, showers, or washrooms.

Sooryavanshi can still sit in on team meetings, tactics, and match-day huddles. He just can’t change with Kohli, Shreyas Iyer or Tilak Varma.

BCCI and ECB are coordinating arrangements at every venue. His parents are also traveling with the squad and staying at the team hotel — a rare exception cleared by the board.
