Ram Mandir offering theft case: Champat Rai refuses to give financial information of Ram Mandir Trust

Ayodhya, 24 June. Amidst the investigation into the alleged scam in the offerings of Shri Ram temple in Ayodhya, Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust Secretary Champat Rai has refused to give related information including the income, expenditure, donations and bank accounts of the trust, citing the investigation of the Special Investigation Team (SIT).

Champat Rai refused to give information at a time when the complaint given by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajneesh Singh to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) was sent to the Ayodhya district administration for necessary action.

Refused to give related information citing SIT investigation

In fact, in a letter written to Additional District Magistrate (Administration) Vishu Raja on June 23, Additional District Magistrate (Law and Order) Indrakant Dwivedi said that he had contacted Rai for the information sought in the complaint. According to the letter, Rai has told him that the investigation by the SIT in the alleged offering theft case is still going on and the SIT is collecting all the necessary information, hence the desired information cannot be given in view of the ongoing investigation in the case.

BJP leader Rajneesh Singh Complaint has been lodged with PMO

BJP leader Rajneesh Singh, in a complaint lodged with the PMO on June 12, had demanded that Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust be directed to make public all its financial and asset related details since the beginning of its formation. In this complaint sent by the PMO earlier this week, there was a demand to make many information public.

The PMO has included money collected through the ‘Samparna Nidhi’ campaign, donations received in various forms, contributions received in the form of gold, silver and jewellery, bank accounts and financial transactions, purchase and sale of land, expenditure incurred on temple construction and administration and audit and inspection reports.

Rajneesh Singh said in the complaint that crores of devotees in India and other countries have contributed to the construction of Ram temple, hence they have a moral and democratic right to know how the donations and offerings have been used.
