Meta launches AI smart glasses! Camera, live translation and cool features created a sensation

Meta AI Smart Glasses: Meta Platforms has announced the launch of AI powered smart glasses in collaboration with major eyewear company EssilorLuxottica. These glasses, named ‘Meta Glasses’, are based on the company’s existing Ray-Ban Meta and Oakley Meta wearable lineup, but their design is new. Meta has introduced three frame styles, including a special Kylie Jenner edition. Meta Glass works on the company’s Muse Spark AI model. It is being told that these glasses will have features like advanced multimodal interaction, live translation, hands-free photography and context-aware assistance.

Meta Glass price and availability

The price of Meta Glass starts at $299 (approximately ₹28,000). These can be purchased from today through Meta’s website, LensCrafters, Sunglass Hut, Best Buy, Amazon and select retail partners across the world.
These smart glasses come in three designs and a variety of finishes including Classic Black, Classic Tortoise, Racing Green, Linen, Merlot, Mahogany and Sandstone. Buyers can choose from clear, sun, transition and polarized lens options. The company says that a total of 26 style combinations are available.
Prescription lenses ranging from -12 to +2.25 can also be fitted in these glasses. The company has also launched a new ‘Rx Lens Swap’ program which allows users to get prescription lenses fitted from the optician of their choice without affecting the warranty.
Initially, Meta Glass will be sold in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UK and US. The company has not yet given any information about their availability in the Indian market.

Features and Specifications of Meta Glasses

Like other wearable gadgets of the company, Meta Glasses also have the facility of hands-free Meta AI Assistant. However, now they run on ‘Muse Spark’. This is a special multimodal reasoning and agentic AI model created by Meta Superintelligence Labs. It is claimed that it will help users ask contextual questions about what they are watching, get suggestions, manage schedules and access information without using any hands.
In this, a special button is provided to start Meta AI Assistant or start custom function. For audio, it has special open-ear speakers which support adaptive volume. This wearable also has a six-microphone system. In which two microphones are on the nose pad, two on the temple arms and two on the front frame. It also has wind noise reduction technology, which helps in capturing audio better during calls and AI interactions.
Just like the Ray-Ban Meta, these Meta glasses feature a 12-megapixel camera with a 100-degree field of view (FoV). The company says that users can capture photos with resolution up to 3,024 x 4,032 pixels and record videos up to 3K resolution at 30fps. The camera also supports recording at 1080p (up to 60fps) and 720p (up to 120fps) along with features like hyperlapse and slow-motion video capture. Meta’s new ‘Dynamic Photos’ feature claims it captures multiple frames of a moment and then suggests the best shot.
The company says that it will bring software updates in the future that will facilitate navigation for pedestrians and provide ‘turn-by-turn’ directions without any display.
Meta Glasses support live translation in 20 languages, including Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, French, German, Arabic, and Portuguese. The company is also bringing support for 14 more languages ​​through the upcoming updates. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 6 (with tri-band support for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz), Bluetooth 5.4, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and support for the Meta’s Neural Band accessories via Bluetooth 5.2.
Meta claims that the battery lasts for more than eight hours on a single charge and a total of 40 hours with the charging case. These glasses have 32GB of onboard storage that can store up to 1,000 photos or 100 videos (each 30 seconds long).
