Asia’s No. 1 airport revealed and it’s not Singapore Changi

Globally, the airport ranked 12th, ahead of Singapore’s Changi (13th).

Osaka Itami Airport, the primary domestic airport for the Kansai region of Japan, including its major cities of Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe, was praised for its punctuality and passenger experience.

Panama’s Tocumen International Airport was ranked the best airport in the world, followed by Fortaleza Pinto Martins Airport in Brazil and Cape Town Airport in South Africa.

To come up with its rankings, AirHelp looked at a combination of on-time performance statistics, asked passengers in more than 68 countries to weigh in on airport staff, wait times, and cleanliness, and surveyed passengers on everything from food to shops, seating, entertainment, and airport facilities.

Changi was named the world’s best airport for 2026 in the World Airport Awards by London-based leading aviation organization Skytrax, securing its second consecutive win after also topping the rankings in 2025.

The latest accolade brings Changi’s total to 14 wins, the most in the history of the awards, which began in 2000.

Insiders said Changi has faced increased competition from other global airports.

Last year some tourists said immigration clearance at Changi was swift but luggage delivery at the airport was too slow.
