ICC Rankings: Joe Root again became Test king, Shubman Gill took off in ODIs! Heavy earthquake in ranking

New Delhi: There has been tremendous upheaval in the ICC player rankings this week. There have been major changes especially in the Test and ODI formats. England’s star batsman Joe Root has again captured the number one position in the Test rankings, while Indian captain Shubman Gill has made a great jump in the ODI rankings and has made a place in the top-2.

Test Ranking: Joe Root’s comeback

England’s Joe Root has again become the number one Test batsman in world cricket. This time he jumped two places and took his rating to 871.

His compatriot Harry Brook, who became number one last week, has slipped one place to second place. Brook’s rating is 866. Australia’s Travis Head also lost one place and dropped to third place.

Meanwhile, New Zealand’s Rachin Ravindra gained two places and entered the top-10. His rating has reached 715.

ODI Ranking: Gill’s blast

In the ODI rankings, New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell still remains number one with 815 rating, but Indian opener Shubman Gill has performed amazingly and jumped three places.

Gill has now directly reached second place and his rating has increased to 791. Earlier, Virat Kohli, who was in second place, has fallen one place to third place. Rohit Sharma remains at fourth position with 754 rating.

Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran slipped two places, while Sri Lanka’s Charith Asalanka and England’s Harry Brook managed to make it to the top-10.

There is a possibility of even bigger changes in the rankings due to many important matches in the coming days, especially the upheaval in the T20 rankings is considered certain.
