Manipur: Major operation by security forces, huge quantity of weapons recovered, militants arrested
Imphal. Police and security agencies in Manipur are continuing their operations against illegal weapons, militants and drugs. In this series, while a huge quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from Kangpokpi district, a militant was arrested from Imphal West district. Search operations by security forces are also going on in different parts of the state.
According to official information released today by Manipur Police Headquarters, on June 24, security forces recovered a huge cache of arms and ammunition from Kotlane area of Kangpokpi district.
The recovered weapons mainly included one 5.56 mm
Police said that on June 22, security forces arrested an alleged Lance Corporal of Manipur Naga People’s Front (MNPF), Siro Vungta alias Ronaldo (24) (a resident of Tarong village in Kamjong district) from Khuman Lampak near ISBT gate in Imphal police station area of Imphal West district.
Meanwhile, on June 24, security forces were continuously involved in search operations and area domination operations in the outer and sensitive areas of the districts.
As a result of which arms and ammunition are being recovered. A total of 112 checkpoints/check points were set up in different districts of Manipur, both in hilly and valley areas.
