Outcry of Mahajaam in Tamil Nadu! Speed of vehicles slowed down due to closure of Kaveri Bridge, public anger erupted on the highway
Tamil Nadu Trichy Cauvery Bridge Repair: There is an outcry due to traffic jam in Tamil Nadu. There has been a traffic jam on the highway for hours, due to which the condition of the people has become miserable. Local people protested by blocking the road at Sanjeev Nagar on Tiruchirappalli-Chennai National Highway, demanding early completion of the repair work on the Cauvery Bridge in Tamil Nadu.
Local people of Sanjeev Nagar have protested for the repair of the bridge. The old Kaveri Bridge has been closed for the last two days for repair work, causing huge traffic jam and causing a lot of trouble to the commuters. The protesters say the prolonged closure of the bridge is causing inordinate delays and appealed to the authorities to complete the repair work as soon as possible.

Traffic police officials reached the spot and talked to the protesters to pacify them and normalize the traffic. Local people presented their demands before the police.

Traffic jam due to closure of Kaveri Bridge
Local people also said that their long standing demand of building a flyover in Sanjeev Nagar has not been fulfilled for many years. He reminded that the local MP had earlier assured that work on this project would start soon. However, the closure of the old Kaveri Bridge has further increased the problem of traffic jam, due to which people had to protest.

Within no time, the traffic jam spread to almost three kilometres, affecting the entire stretch from Oyamari Road to Kaveri Bridge, Mambazha Salai, Thiruvanaikaval, Kumbakonathan Salai and Tiruchirappalli-Chennai National Highway. Vehicles are stuck on the highway for hours, traffic has come to a complete standstill and commuters are not able to move even an inch.
