Bollywood’s famous playback singer Alka Yagnik has been in the news since her recent public appearance, where she received a Padma award on June 23 for her contribution to the entertainment field.
A video of the 60-year-old first surfaced on the internet in which she was seen walking with the help of another person, sparking major concerns about her health among fans.

She later addressed those worries through a gratitude post for the prestigious honour she received from the Government of India.
In the post, she also described the reason for staying away from the spotlight for the last two years, revealing that it was due to her health.
“Many of you knew I am going through difficult health, and through it all, your love, prayers, messages, and unwavering support have stayed with me every step of the way.”
However after this statement, another viral video showing the veteran singer being assisted in a wheelchair after the Padma Bhushan ceremony sparked another wave of speculations.
Many fans expressed concern after watching the clip, with several sending prayers and wishes for her recovery.
The If you are with me singer has now addressed the chatter, assuring well-wishers that she is recovering well and that the wheelchair was needed only because she felt fatigued after a long day.
On Thursday, sharing a statement on Instagram Stories, she thanked fans for their concern and clarified the circumstances behind the video.
“Thank you for your love, concern and countless good wishes. I have seen the concern surrounding a video from the ceremony and would like to assure everyone that I am well and progressing positively in my recovery. After a long and memorable day at the Padma felicitation, I was simply fatigued and requested a wheelchair while leaving,” she said.
In 2024, the You have stolen vocalist revealed that she had been diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss, a rare hearing disorder that prompted her extended absence from the public eye.
It’s pertinent ot mention that Alka Yagnik is one of India’s most celebrated playback singers, earning two National Film Awards, seven Filmfare Awards and numerous other accolades.
