Who is Jonathan

Jonathan is a giant tortoise from the Seychelles, believed to have been born in 1832. This means he’s approximately 194 years old. Guinness World Records has recognized Jonathan as the world’s oldest living land animal.

Over nearly two centuries, Jonathan has witnessed many historical events, witnessed the passage of generations, and experienced major changes in the world. Despite his advanced age, Jonathan remains in excellent health, thanks to the veterinarians who have helped maintain his good health.

Although cataracts have impaired his vision and sense of smell, Jonathan remains perfectly healthy and active and remains one of the main attractions of the Seychelles. His longevity makes him an interesting subject for scientists researching aging and longevity.
