Self Driving Car: Xiaomi Xiaomi YU7 GT created history! Ran on the most difficult race track without a driver

Self Driving Car: Can you imagine a car driving at a speed of 300 km/h on the world’s most challenging race track without a driver? This is not the story of any science-fiction film, but reality. Chinese tech company Xiaomi has achieved a major achievement in the field of autonomous driving technology. The company’s new electric SUV Xiaomi YU7 GT successfully completed a full lap without a driver on Germany’s famous Nürburgring Nordschleife race track. This achievement is being considered an important step in the development of self-driving technology.

Test on the world’s toughest race track
The Nurburgring is considered one of the most challenging race tracks in the world. The approximately 20.8 kilometer long track has more than 70 sharp turns, elevation changes and high-speed sections. It is not easy to control the vehicle on such tracks even for experienced race drivers. On this track, Xiaomi YU7 GT showed its performance without any human intervention and proved the capability of the autonomous driving system.

Completed the lap in 10 minutes 29 seconds
According to the company, YU7 GT completed the lap of Nurburgring track in 10 minutes 29.483 seconds. Although this time is more than the time achieved by a professional driver, this performance based on completely autonomous technology is considered a major achievement in itself. Experts believe that based on the data obtained from this test, Xiaomi will make its self-driving software more accurate and safe in the future.

1,003 horsepower
Xiaomi YU7 GT has been developed as a high-performance electric SUV. It has a 101.7kWh ternary lithium battery and 897-volt silicon carbide electrical architecture. The company’s Super Motor V8s EVO motor has been installed in this SUV, which generates a maximum power of 1,003 horsepower. This is the reason why this vehicle is capable of performing brilliantly.

Speed of 100 km/h in 2.92 seconds
In terms of performance, YU7 GT is no less than a supercar. This SUV can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.92 seconds. Its maximum speed is said to be around 300 km per hour. It also features an advanced cooling system that controls the temperature of the battery and motor to maintain better performance during continuous high-speed driving.

Strong in range and charging too
Xiaomi has not limited this electric SUV to just performance. According to the company, the YU7 GT can provide an additional range of up to 570 kilometers in just 15 minutes of fast charging. Once fully charged, its CLTC certified range reaches 705 kilometers, making it suitable for long distance travel as well.

Questions arising in the minds of technical experts
Although this achievement is quite impressive, some questions still remain. Xiaomi did not clarify whether the vehicle was pre-fed a complete map of the track during the test or whether it navigated the track in real time with the help of sensors and artificial intelligence. Despite this, experts believe that successfully completing a lap without a driver on a difficult track like the Nurburgring is very positive for the future of autonomous driving technology.
