PM Modi meets Netherlands’ Queen Máxima, highlights India’s digital inclusion model ‎

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Queen Maxima of the Netherlands, who also serves as the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health, and discussed India’s expanding digital public infrastructure and its role in advancing financial inclusion. ‎Sharing details of the meeting in a post on social media platform X, Modi described Queen Maxima as a long-standing global advocate for financial inclusion and said the discussions focused on how India’s digital transformation is improving access to financial services for millions of people. ‎“Delighted to meet Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, who is also the UN Secretary General’s Special Advocate for Financial Health and a long-standing global voice for financial inclusion,” the Prime Minister said. ‎According to Modi, the conversation centred on India’s Digital Public Infrastructure ecosystem, which has emerged as a key pillar of the country’s efforts to expand financial access and promote inclusive development.He noted that the digital revolution, driven by platforms such as Aadhaar, the Unified Payments Interface, and other public digital systems, has made financial services more accessible and affordable while improving the ease of living for citizens.‎“We discussed how India’s Digital Public Infrastructure-led revolution is making financial services more accessible and affordable, while enhancing ‘Ease of Living’ and empowering people at scale,” Modi said. ‎India’s DPI framework has drawn international attention in recent years for enabling large-scale digital payments, direct benefit transfers, and broader financial inclusion. The government has repeatedly highlighted the model as a scalable and cost-effective approach that can be adapted by developing and developed countries alike.Emphasising India’s willingness to collaborate globally, Modi said the country would continue sharing its experiences and best practices with partner nations seeking to strengthen financial inclusion through digital innovation. ‎“India remains committed to sharing its experience with partner countries across the world,” he added.Queen Máxima has been closely associated with global efforts to improve access to financial services, particularly for underserved populations. She has frequently engaged with governments, financial institutions, and international organisations to promote inclusive financial systems.Her discussions with Modi come amid growing international interest in India’s digital governance and financial technology ecosystem, which has been showcased at several multilateral forums as a model for accelerating inclusive economic growth.
