Arunachal Pradesh: Floods and landslides wreak havoc; 18 houses collapse, several people missing.

6 districts lost connectivity, 17 people injured

Incessant rains caused flash floods in Arunachal Pradesh’s Keyi Panyor district on Wednesday morning, inundating low-lying areas and damaging 18 houses. Also, landslides on the National Highway halted vehicular movement and left many people stranded. 6 districts have been cut off due to floods and landslides. Five people are missing, while 17 people have been injured.

The affected districts include Upper Subansiri, Kamle, Lower Subansiri, Kurung Kumey, Kra Dadi and Kei Panyor. Earlier, State Disaster Management Secretary Dani Sulu said that 3 people went missing due to sudden flood in NEEPCO Project Colony near Pusa under Yazali Circle. Due to heavy rains, a retaining wall (protection wall) collapsed and the colony and its surrounding low-lying residential areas were flooded with heavy water.
