Got the responsibility after the tenure of the chiefs ended
The prescribed tenure of village heads in the state was completed on May 26. After this, the government had handed over the responsibility of administrators to the existing heads to ensure that the functioning of the Panchayats was not affected. However, under this system they were given only limited rights. As an administrator, Pradhan could carry forward the old works, but to start new development works he needed to take permission from the administration. Due to this, the functioning of Panchayats was also being affected.

The Allahabad High Court has raised questions on the system of making heads administrators in Panchayats and has considered it as not being in accordance with the constitutional system. The court has asked the government to present a clear plan regarding the three-tier Panchayat elections. Now the next hearing in this case is to be held on July 13. The eyes of people associated with Panchayats are fixed on this hearing. It is believed that the further situation may become clear after the government’s response.
