Political Mahabharata on 10 Rajya Sabha seats of UP, whose ticket will be cut, who will reach Parliament?

The Rajya Sabha elections to be held next year in Uttar Pradesh are considered very important from the political point of view. The election on 10 Rajya Sabha seats will not be limited to the upper house of the Parliament, but is being seen as a political test of strength between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Samajwadi Party before the 2027 assembly elections. The 10 MPs whose tenure is completing include Bharatiya Janata Party’s Hardeep Singh Puri, Arun Singh, Brijlal, Neeraj Shekhar, Seema Dwivedi, Geeta Shakya, Banwari Lal Verma and Dinesh Sharma.

The tenure of Samajwadi Party’s Ram Gopal Yadav and Ramji Gautam is also ending. In such a situation, both the parties are engaged in efforts ranging from ticket distribution to social and regional equations. Now the biggest question is which of these leaders will get a second chance and whose ticket may be cut.

Bharatiya Janata Party ahead in numbers, Samajwadi Party also in strong preparation

In the 403-member assembly, the NDA has around 290 to 294 MLAs, while the Samajwadi Party and its allies have 103 to 105 MLAs. To win a Rajya Sabha seat, approximately 37 first preference votes will be required. Based on the current mathematics, Bharatiya Janata Party is considered to be in a position to win 7 to 8 seats, while Samajwadi Party can make a strong claim on 2 to 3 seats.

Discussion of return of Hardeep Singh Puri and Brijlal

There is discussion in political circles that Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and former IPS Brijlal can be sent to Rajya Sabha again. There are also discussions regarding the future of Arun Singh, who has been active in the organization for a long time. Keeping in mind the 2027 assembly elections, Bharatiya Janata Party is also working on a strategy to give opportunity to many new social and regional faces.

Akhilesh’s PDA formula will remain at the center

Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav is preparing to further strengthen his Backward, Dalit and Minority (PDA) formula in this election. According to party sources, the Samajwadi Party is planning a strategy to send at least two new loyal leaders to the Rajya Sabha, in which representatives of backward, Dalit and minority classes may get priority.

Complete seat calculations of BJP and Samajwadi Party

Bharatiya Janata Party, along with its allies Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Subhashpa SP and Apna Dal, is aiming to win at least 7 seats. The party is also keeping an eye on the possibility of arranging additional votes and possible cross voting in the opposition. Whereas Samajwadi Party can try to reach 3 seats with the help of coordination with Congress.

If the opposition remains completely united and there is no cross voting then the contest can become more interesting. In recent days, the political warmth shown between Akhilesh Yadav and Rahul Gandhi in the meeting of INDIA alliance is also being linked to the strategy of Rajya Sabha elections. The opposition is preparing to give a strong political message before the 2027 assembly elections through this election.

Elections being seen as semi-finals of 2027

Political analysts believe that this election will not only indicate the Rajya Sabha seats but will also indicate the environment of the 2027 assembly elections. If the Bharatiya Janata Party wins more seats than expected or the Samajwadi Party performs better than expected, it will have a direct impact on the political narrative of the next assembly elections and the morale of the workers.
