New Delhi: The excitement of the first unofficial Test match being played between India A and Sri Lanka A at Galle ground has reached its peak. The Indian team, which appeared to be in a strong position after three days of play, has come on the field today on the fourth and last day of the match with the intention of setting a big target for Sri Lanka and winning the match. India suffered some early setbacks in the first session of the last day, due to which Sri Lanka tried to make a comeback in the match.

By the end of the third day’s play, India A had scored 48 runs without any loss in their second innings. After opener Sai Sudarshan ‘retired hurt’, Ayush Pandey and Devdutt Padikkal took charge. India did not have a good start on the fourth day and the team lost three important wickets.

Dhruv Jurel and Sai Sudarshan shined in the first innings

In this match, India A team, which won the toss and came to bat first, scored a huge score in the first innings. Thanks to the brilliant centuries of captain Dhruv Jurel and Sai Sudarshan, India declared its first innings at 452 runs for 6 wickets. Captain and wicketkeeper Jurel, leading from the front, played an unbeaten inning of 141 runs with the help of 13 fours and 1 six. Opener Sudarshan displayed technically strong batting and scored 132 runs with the help of 19 fours. Rashid also made useful contribution in the middle order and played an important inning of 63 runs.

Aaqib Nabi Dar’s deadly bowling

In response to India’s 452 runs, host Sri Lanka A also put up a good fight at home, but their first innings was limited to 330 runs. From the Indian side, medium fast bowler Aaqib Nabi Dar continued his excellent domestic form and took 4 wickets and broke the back of Sri Lankan batting. Apart from them, spinner Harsh Dubey and fast bowler Yash Thakur got 2 successes each. On the basis of first innings, India A had a significant lead of 122 runs.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi is sorely missed

India A team has reached here just before this Test series after winning the tri-series played between India, Sri Lanka and Afghanistan. In the final of that tri-series against Sri Lanka, Vaibhav Suryavanshi made India the champion by playing a stormy innings of 94 runs in just 29 balls. The team is missing Suryavanshi in this Test series, because he is currently on the Ireland tour with the senior Indian team.
