Keeping this in view, the Agriculture Department has issued detailed technical advice for the Kharif season. In this, an appeal has been made to pay attention to the important things from the beginning of farming till the preparation of the crop so that the production increases and the possibility of loss is reduced.

Choose crop according to area Kharif Season

Agriculture Department Has asked the farmers to choose crops keeping in mind the soil, weather and availability of irrigation of their area. Instead of completely depending on a single crop, it has also been advised to adopt cultivation of different crops. This will reduce the risk of farming and will also help in maintaining the fertility of the land.

The department has emphasized on the use of organic fertilizers to improve the quality of soil. Along with this, it has been advised to select certified seeds with good germination capacity and to keep appropriate quantity of seeds during sowing.

Ridge drain method can give better results

It has been advised to sow pulses and oilseed crops using ridge-groove method or broadbed furrow method. In this way the crop can better withstand conditions like waterlogging and drought. This also improves the growth of plants and there is a possibility of increased production.

Also, farmers have been asked to irrigate as per the weather conditions and keep checking the moisture of the field from time to time so that water can be used properly (Kharif Season).

Maintain balance of manure and fertilizers

Agriculture Department officials have appealed to the farmers to use manure and fertilizers in balanced quantity as per requirement. Providing nutrients in the right quantity improves crop growth and helps in achieving better production.

Do not be negligent in controlling weeds and diseases

It is important to do weeding and weeding on time after sowing the crop. If necessary, it is advised to use herbicides carefully as per the prescribed guidelines.

Farmers have been advised to regularly monitor their crops to protect them from pests and diseases. If necessary, pesticides and fungicides should also be used as per the advice of experts.

Keep an eye on crop diversification and weather

The department says that by adopting cultivation of different crops, the risk of farming (Kharif Season) is reduced and the productive capacity of the soil remains for a long time. In Kharif season, farmers can select major crops like paddy, maize, soybean, groundnut, urad and moong according to the conditions of their area.

Apart from this, farmers have also been advised to keep a constant eye on the weather forecast, do farming work accordingly, take advice from agricultural scientists from time to time and learn from the experiences of other farmers. The department believes that by adopting scientific methods along with timely agricultural work, better yields can be achieved in the Kharif season and the risks associated with farming can be reduced to a great extent.
