Alas! If the size of the house is square! Saving money and space in having square rooms!
Wherever we go, most of the houses, buildings and their interior rooms are square, square or rectangular in shape. Round, triangular or any other octagonal shaped houses are not usually built. It is not just an old tradition, but there are many important reasons behind it related to architecture, mathematics, saving money and lifestyle of man. Some of the important reasons are as follows,
Ease of construction and strength
Bricks, stone, cement blocks and wood are all building materials that are naturally square or straight. On square walls, the weight of the roof is distributed equally on all sides. This gives the building better balance and strength. In contrast, building round or triangular walls is very difficult and requires more technical skills.

Optimal use of space
No corner of space is wasted in rectangular or square rooms. The furniture we use at home, such as beds, cupboards, tables, TV units or sofas, are all designed with straight lines and 90 degree angles. In a square room, this furniture can be precisely attached to the wall. If the room is round, then after placing the furniture, a huge side space is left empty and useless.
Savings in construction costs
Construction of square shaped houses is economically affordable. It wastes minimum material while cutting bricks or plywood. Special centering and labor costs increase enormously for building round or curved walls. Plastering and tiling straight walls was very convenient and cost less.

4. Ventilation and lighting
In square rooms, it is easier to install windows and doors facing each other or at right angles. This helps keep sunlight and air in the house, which is essential for a healthy life.
In short, square or rectangular shape is the most practical, safe and economical for human living. Hence square shape is preferred for houses from ancient times to today’s modern skyscrapers.
