NDA leaders on Sunday targeted Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Kejriwal has announced to build a grand temple dedicated to Mata Sita and Luv-Kush in Amritsar, following which NDA leaders accused Kejriwal of doing “poll politics” ahead of the Punjab Assembly elections.
Kejriwal on Saturday announced several religious and cultural initiatives in Punjab, including construction of a temple in Amritsar. He made this announcement during the program ‘Ek Sham in the Name of Lord Shiva’, in which Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also present.
Speaking to IANS, BJP MP Manan Kumar Mishra said, “When Arvind Kejriwal gets into trouble, he suddenly remembers God, Mata Sita and everything else. When he was in power, he did not like the Ram temple. Now no matter who he remembers, Arvind Kejriwal’s situation is already going in the opposite direction. He has already lost in Delhi and will soon lose in Punjab too.”
However, BJP national spokesperson RP Singh welcomed Kejriwal’s decision, saying, “Those who were raising questions on Ram temple till yesterday, are now moving towards building the temple.” According to JD-U leader Neeraj Kumar, Kejriwal is “too late” in making this announcement.
He said, “Mata Sita is the mother of the world, Luv-Kush is also the heritage of Bihar. Bihar has already taken important steps in this direction. It is a matter of pride for us that Nitish Kumar’s government has started the construction of a temple dedicated to Mata Sita with its financial resources. The central government has also approved the Ram Janaki Path project.”
Addressing Arvind Kejriwal, Neeraj Kumar said, “Your political image has already been tarnished because you have been jailed in corruption-related cases.”
Shiv Sena leader Raju Waghmare accused Kejriwal of doing “election politics”.
He said, “The same Arvind Kejriwal who was not so enthusiastic about the construction of Ram temple (in Ayodhya), is now trying to build a temple dedicated to Goddess Sita. The atmosphere in Punjab is not in his favor, so now he is trying to do electoral politics by doing all this.”
Uttar Pradesh Congress in-charge Rajendra Pal Gautam accused Kejriwal of “working for the BJP”. He said, “They will speak only as much as the BJP wants them to. They do not have the courage to say anything more than that.”
BJP will not eliminate Aam Aadmi Party now. She wants such small parties to continue to exist and continue distributing votes, because the entire country is looking towards Congress. “BJP’s think tank has decided to keep such small parties alive.”
