Starlink announces free mobile connectivity for telecom users in Venezuela

Starlink on Sunday announced that it is working to provide free mobile connectivity for customers of Digital and Movilnet in Venezuela, while confirming that Starlink Mobile is already offering free connectivity to Movistar Venezuela users in La Guaira.

The announcement was made through a post on X, where the satellite internet provider said it was moving swiftly to expand emergency connectivity services for affected users.

According to Starlink, efforts are underway to deliver free service to customers of Digital and Movilnettwo of Venezuela’s major telecommunications providers. The company did not specify a timeline for the nationwide rollout but said work was progressing rapidly.

In a separate update, Starlink said that Starlink Mobile is already providing free connectivity to Movistar Venezuela subscribers in La Guairaone of the areas where communications support is being extended.

The company did not immediately provide technical details regarding eligibility, service duration or the number of users expected to benefit from the emergency connectivity initiative. It also did not specify whether the service would be expanded to additional regions across Venezuela.

The latest announcement comes as Starlink continues deploying satellite-based communication services to maintain connectivity during emergencies and network disruptions. Satellite communication systems can provide internet access when conventional mobile and fixed-line infrastructure is unavailable or disrupted.

Digitel, Movilnet and Movistar are among Venezuela’s principal mobile network operators, serving millions of subscribers across the country. Starlink’s initiative is aimed at ensuring that customers retain access to communication services while restoration efforts continue.
