AIADMK’s 6 wickets fell one by one, what does Joseph Vijay want to achieve?
The current Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C Joseph Vijay, had to make many sacrifices to become the head of the state. She had met the Governor four times to get the support of 118 MLAs required to form the government and after the last one her claim was accepted as true. Since then, Vijay’s party is engaged in breaking the opposition All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK). Till now 6 AIADMK MLAs have resigned. The result is that the effective number of MLAs in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, which had 234 MLAs, has now come down to 227. There is discussion that before the by-elections, this number may increase further so that by-elections are held simultaneously on all the seats. Interestingly, the resigned MLAs are those who had supported Vijay’s Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) during the floor test. These MLAs are now joining TVK itself.
In this sequence, former Tamil Nadu minister M.R. Vijaybhaskar resigned from the post of MLA on Monday. He has become the sixth AIADMK MLA to quit the post of MLA after the assembly elections held in April. As soon as the news of his resignation spread, AIADMK’s Karur District Secretary Kamala Kannan claimed that V. Vijayabhaskar had left the party due to debt repayment. Kannan told reporters in Karur, ‘He had told the party workers during the meetings held in the last two days that he has a debt which has to be paid and that is why he wants to leave the party. Vijayabhaskar won the assembly elections because of AIADMK. He has betrayed not only our leader but also the party workers.

AIADMK is falling apart one by one
Since the election results were declared on May 4, AIADMK is facing the crisis of continuous exodus of its workers and leaders. It is believed to have broken under the leadership of AIADMK MLA CV Shanmugam. However, he has not resigned yet. After the resignation of former transport minister Vijaybhaskar, the total number of vacant assembly seats has increased to seven. Of these, six seats were won by AIADMK. At the same time, Tiruchirappalli East seat has become vacant due to the resignation of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay. Vijay had won the elections from two seats and later resigned from one seat. He represents the Perambur constituency of Chennai in the Legislative Assembly.
Let us tell you that Vijaybhaskar, former Chief Minister J. He has been the state transport minister in Jayalalitha’s cabinet. Vijayabhaskar, elected from Karur on AIADMK ticket, met Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker J.C.D. at the Secretariat on Monday. Met Prabhakar and submitted his handwritten resignation, which was accepted. He lost this seat to V. Senthil Balaji of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) in the 2021 assembly elections but won from Karur assembly constituency in the 2026 elections. With this resignation, the number of AIADMK MLAs in the assembly has reduced from 47 to 41.

Let us inform that all the six MLAs who left their seats had voted in favor of the TVK government during the trust vote held on May 13, going against the party’s instructions. A few days after the trust vote, AIADMK MLAs Maragatham Kumaravel, P. Satyabhama, S. Jayakumar and later Esakki Subaya also resigned and joined TVK. Now there is talk that Vijay Bhaskar can also join TVK. It is being speculated that all these leaders will contest from their respective seats on behalf of TVK in the by-elections.
Friends are also upset with TVK’s growth
Let us tell you that the effective number of TVK MLAs who won 108 seats is 107. TVK needs 11 more MLAs to have a majority in the 234-member assembly. At present, TVK government is running with the support of Congress, IUML, CPI, CPM, and VCK, but TVK aims to get majority alone. According to the current alliance, the total number of MLAs reaches 120.

On the other hand, MK Stalin is repeatedly claiming that the government will fall within 6 months. This is because VCK, IUML, CPI and CPM still sympathize with Stalin. It is said that these parties can separate from the government at the behest of Stalin. In that situation it will be difficult for TVK to save the government. This is the reason why Vijay is busy strengthening his position these days.
Understand this from existing mathematics. Now due to the resignation of a total of 7 MLAs, the effective number is only 227 and 115 MLAs are required for majority. TVK has 107 MLAs and Congress has 5 i.e. a total of 112 MLAs, so these two parties will gather. It is noteworthy that CV Shanmugam, who was the center of rebellion in AIADMK, and many of his other colleagues have also not resigned yet. Once two more MLAs resign, TVK and Congress will be able to save the government on their own and there will be no need for pro-Stalin parties. There is also a strong possibility that once Vijay gets majority on his own, he may distance himself from these parties. Perhaps this is the reason why VCK leaders have now started opposing the resignation of MLAs in this manner.
