Prayagraj: Youth dies in harsh firing, accused arrested

A 24-year-old youth died after being shot in the joyous firing that took place during the celebration of the birth of a son in Karchana area of ​​Prayagraj. Police arrested the accused and recovered the licensed revolver.

Bullet fired amid celebration, youth killed

A congratulatory program was organized in Niriya village of Karchana police station area of ​​Prayagraj late on Monday night to celebrate the birth of a son. Families and villagers were present at the ceremony and there was a festive atmosphere. Meanwhile, a person present in the program started firing in the air with a licensed revolver.

According to eyewitnesses, several rounds were fired during the event. Meanwhile, a bullet fired hit 24-year-old Sarvesh alias Golu Yadav, a resident of the village. As soon as he was shot, he got seriously injured and fell on the spot, due to which there was chaos in the program and the atmosphere of happiness turned into mourning in a moment.

Doctors declared him dead in the hospital

The family took the injured Sarvesh to Swarooprani Nehru Hospital for immediate treatment. However, doctors declared him dead after investigation. Sarvesh was the second among four brothers and was working in a private company. He was unmarried. After the incident, there was mourning in the family and there is an atmosphere of mourning in the village too.

On receiving the information, Karchana police station and other officers reached the spot. The police inspected the spot, collected evidence and started investigating the case.

Accused arrested, revolver also recovered

On the complaint of deceased’s father Rajendra Prasad Yadav, a case of death due to negligence and rash firing has been registered against Vijay Yadav of the village. Police arrested the accused and also recovered the licensed revolver used from his possession.

Police say that the investigation of the case is ongoing and further legal action will be taken on the basis of forensic and other evidence. Authorities have appealed to people to avoid dangerous activities like celebratory firing at weddings, birthdays or other celebrations, as it can lead to loss of life and the person concerned may also have to face legal action.
